It's time for PS5 Pro pre-orders round 2
Hello! Welcome to Tom's Guide live blog covering the second drop of PS5 Pro pre-orders, as well as the restock of the PS5 Slim Digital Edition 30th Anniversary Collection at select retailers. I'll be here to guide you through the process from start to finish, and will alert you the minute stock goes live at Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and more.

PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition pre-orders are set to go live at 10 a.m. ET, but there's always one retailer that breaks rank and decides to go a little early, and today that's Target. The red-themed retailer has set its listing page for both consoles live, so if Target is your retailer of choice check the buying links above.
PS5 Pro sold out at PlayStation Direct

The PS5 Pro first went on sale over on PlayStation Direct on September 26. During this first pre-order window, when ran exclusively at Sony's own online retailer, the console did not sell out. However, yesterday, a "currently unavailable" notice appeared, and as of 4:15 a.m. ET, the PS5 Pro is sold out at PlayStation Direct.
The timing of this sell-out does seem a particularly curious coincidence when you consider that the PS5 Pro will be going up for pre-order at additional retailers today, so we'll also be monitoring PS Direct to check the stock situation over there as well.

It's still the very early hours of the morning for U.S. folk, but over in the U.K. (where yours truly happens to be located) the day has begun, and more importantly, PS5 Pro pre-orders are live at various retailers including Currys, Argos and Very.
We've also got a listing for the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition at Very, but the limited-edition bundle appears to have sold out literally moments after the page went live. It looks like the Anniversary gear is again going to super popular.
Will you regret pre-ordering a PS5 Pro?
With today's second wave of PS5 Pro pre-orders still hours away from dropping in the U.S., you might be looking for a little reading to pass the time as you consider whether to commit to the very pricey $699 console. So, why not check out my colleague Dave Meikleham's article discussing why he might already regret his PS5 Pro pre-order? However, for me personally, I've had my order locked in since September 26, and I'm already eagerly counting down the days till November 7.

U.K. gamers, you'll be pleased to know that pre-orders for the PS5 Pro and the PS5 Slim in that glorious retro-fueled gray are now live on Amazon. The latter will sell out in literally seconds, so if you're an Amazon shopper, head over there right now and lock in your pre-order as quickly as possible. You don't have time to waste!
That didn't take very long...
Whelp, I did say it would sell out in literally seconds. The limited-edition PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition is now sold out on Amazon U.K., the retailer's stock lasted mere moments, perhaps indicating that the supplied allocation to retailers beyond PlayStation Direct has been pretty small. Fortunately, the PS5 Pro is still in stock, so at least you can score the most powerful PlayStation as a consolation prize.

While most of the focus today will be on PS hardware, I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that we see a restock of the limited-edition DualSense controller that went up for pre-order back in September. I didn't commit to pre-ordering a pad on that day as I told myself I didn't need it, and unsurprisingly, I'm now regretting that decision. While nothing is confirmed yet, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a restock.
PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary — UK stock update
It's approaching midday over in the U.K., so now is a good time to take stock of the current availability situation for the PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition. Essentially, there's good news, and bad news (or perhaps that's predictable news).
The PS5 Pro is available to pre-order at every major retailer from Amazon to Currys. Stock levels are looking stable, but I would still advise locking in your pre-order as soon as possible if you know you want a Pro console this November.
However, when it comes to the limited-edition PS5 Slim, it's been very much a case of "blink and you'll miss it" this morning. It's still worth periodically checking stock (just in case), but all retailers are currently listing the popular product as sold out.

The PS5 Pro is now available to pre-order across major retailers in the U.K., it will cost £699 and is set to be the most powerful PlayStation console ever made. Pre-order now ahead of its launch later this year on November 7.

Here's what Target's early drop taught us
Target went earlier than expected and dropped its stock of the PS5 Slim Digital Edition 30th Anniversary Edition before 10 a.m. ET. This will be a little annoying to anybody who was asleep when the stock was made available, but we can take some positive learnings from this ahead of the likes of Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart dropping their allocation (don't worry, we'll alert you the moment that happens).
As noted by restock tracker @LeBlorstOfTimes on X (formerly known as Twitter), Target's stock did sell out fast, but not so rapidly that getting one in your cart was practically impossible. With more chances to come, so long as you're switched on, and ready to check out the minute stock is live, you have a good chance of securing a limited edition PS5 Slim bundle. So, get a cup of coffee, and get ready for the drop.

Don't want to go Pro? PS5 Slim is discounted
If you're not totally sold on the Pro (and considering its $700 price tag, you absolutely should be fully onboard before clicking that pre-order button), you might want to consider opting for a standard PS5 Slim instead. And now is the time to buy.
The PS5 Slim went on sale earlier this week as part of Amazon's second Prime Day event of 2024, and that discount has stuck around despite the seasonal sale technically ending yesterday (Oct. 9). You can currently score a PS5 console for $449 at Amazon, that's not quite the lowest price ever, but it's an excellent discount on the best-selling current generation console.
PS5 Slim: was $499 now $499 @ Amazon
The PS5 Slim is the same great console in a slimmer form factor and packs a larger 1TB SSD. The PS5 represents the pinnacle of Sony's gaming platform to date and offers a near-unbeatable library of must-play games.

PS5 Slim Digital Edition: was $449 now $399 @ Amazon
The PS5 Slim (Digital Edition) is the same great console, just minus the Blu-ray disc drive. While this model cannot play physical games, it is $50 cheaper, and the lack of a chunky drive improves the console's overall aesthetic. This is the perfect pick if you're fully committed to buying your games digitally.
It's almost time for pre-orders in the U.S.
With U.K. pre-orders now live, our attention can fully turn to the U.S., we're expecting retailers to begin taking pre-orders of the PS5 Pro and the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition bundle at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET and the latter will likely sell out in a matter of minutes. So here's all the retailer links you'll need in around one hour:

The PS5 Pro is set to be the most powerful PlayStation ever, and Amazon has confirmed it will be stocking the anticipated new console. However, while the retailer's listing page for the upgraded PS5 is live, pre-orders will not begin until Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. ET.

PS5 Digital Edition 30th Anniversary Bundle: $499 @ Amazon
Amazon has a preview page live for the PS5 Slim Digital Edition 30th Anniversary Bundle, and we're expecting the online mega-retailer to start taking pre-orders at around 10 a.m. ET. There's been no indication that ordering one will require an Amazon Prime membership.

Less than 30 minutes to go...
The second wave of PS5 Pro and PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary pre-orders begin in the U.S. in less than 30 minutes, so now is the time to get yourself ready. Make sure you've logged into your account on your chosen retailer (or retailers), have up-to-date payment information, and in the case of Walmart, remember you will need a Walmart Plus account — and it must be a paid Walmart account, the free trial option will not work in this case. You can sign up here, but it does cost a hefty $98 a year.

PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary is selling out SUPER fast
It comes as no surprise, but the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition is selling out in rapid fashion. Best Buy and Walmart appear to have sold all their stock, and we can't forget that Target went early and sold out in advance of 10 a.m. ET.
Our eyes have now turned to Amazon, which doesn't appear to have dropped any stock. In fact, the retailer's 30th Anniversary Edition PS5 Slim listing page has mysteriously disappeared. Could this be a sign that the pre-order floodgates are about to open....

The mystery of the disappearing Amazon listing page has been solved, the retailer is now once again displaying the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition bundle. However, the pre-order floodgates have yet to open, I would recommend keeping a very close watch on this page for now, as the pre-order button could turn green any minute.
GameStop PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary pre-orders — here's what we know

GameStop is dropping its allocation of the PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary Edition in a pretty bizarre way. The gaming retailer will restock the bundle in six drops of 600 units each, stretching out the pre-order event into a five-hour marathon that will test customer patience more than anything else.
The first couple of drops have been and gone, but there are still a few left, so if you want a limited-edition PS5 Slim, this might be your best bet. You'll need a GameStop Pro membership, and the stock will be available on the hour through until 3 p.m. ET....so head over to GameStop as the next drop begins in around 45 minutes.

Walmart deals are still live
Walmart is currently offering the PS5 Pro at the standard price but the retailer still has a number of deals active on TVs and games as part of its bid to battle Amazon over Prime Day. So, while you won't find the PS5 Pro itself discounted yet, there's plenty of ways to save on all the other stuff you might want to upgrade alongside it...
